This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• Account data — your email and a securely hashed password.
• Usage data — API requests, original (uncompressed) data volumes, and basic operational logs needed to run and secure the service.
• Billing data — payments are processed by Stripe; we store a payment record (amount, status, timestamp) but never your full card details.
• Site analytics — standard, privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic.

Your genomic data

Compressed files are stored in your own private, per-account bucket. When you run gene.zip inside your own cloud (AWS / Azure / GCP confidential compute), your data never leaves your network at all. We do not access, analyze, mine, or sell your genomic data.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
• We do not share or rent your data to third parties for marketing or their own purposes.
• We do not use your genomic data to train models or for any purpose other than providing the service you asked for.

How we use what we collect

Only to operate, secure, support, and bill the service. Limited service providers (e.g., our cloud host and Stripe for payments) process data strictly on our behalf under contract, and may not use it for their own purposes.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Confidential-compute deployments keep data encrypted in use and isolated even from the host. We follow least-privilege access internally.

Your rights

You can access, export, or delete your account and data at any time — email hello@gene.zip and we'll help.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
